Ethan Rand, MD, Founder & President
Ethan Rand's passion lies in improving medical devices to enhance quality of life. Ethan studied human factors and ergonomics while attending Cornell University and subsequently received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. During his time as a consultant at Design Science, Ethan worked closely with major medical device manufacturers to improve the usability, efficiency and effectiveness of medical devices at all stages of development. Ethan will be completing his medical training as a resident in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he will continue to develop his unique vision of how to transform medical technology to optimally adapt to user needs.
Robert Koffsky, MS, Vice President of Research & Development
Robert Koffsky has over 30 years of biomedical engineering experience with medical devices. He received his MS in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University. For the past thirty years, Robert has been President of Miller Hill Limited, a design and fabrication service in Hopewell Junction, NY. He also served as Senior Bioengineer in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center, in New York. Prior to his work at Mount Sinai and Miller Hill Limited, Robert was a Project Leader at ALZA Pharmaceuticals, in Palo Alto, CA, where he worked on ocular therapeutic systems. He has published 21 articles on artificial organs and other cardiac assist devices, and holds two patents for an infectious waste processor. Robert is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine.
Cory Emil, MEng, Senior Design Engineer
Cory Emil has over ten years of experience in the engineering and manufacturing industries with expertise in CAD modeling and simulation. He earned his MEng in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. As Mechanical Design Engineer at Hamilton Sundstrand, Cory has served as a focal for external hardware design for aerospace technologies. Cory has served as a researcher for the Cornell University Laboratory for Intelligent Machine Systems and as an instructor in machine design and fabrication.
The management team is being assisted by a multi-disciplinary team, including specialists in injury prevention and treatment, wheelchair technology, biomedical engineering, product development and manufacturing, durable medical equipment supply and distribution, medical reimbursement and the development of emerging technology companies:
